First found in Yorkshire where they were one of the many families descended from Count Odo.

Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: Francis Oddy who settled in Anapolis Md. in 1726; M. Oddy settled in New York State in 1823; George Oddy settled in Philadelphia Pa. in 1856 and others.

Coat of Arms: Silver with a green and black horizontal stripe between three borders of black.
